Honeywell Gun Safe Review
Honeywell Small Steel Safe with Lock 5002
The first safe I want to share with you is the simplest safe made by Honeywell. It is a simple lockbox you can use to store handguns, documents or other valuable belongings. The safe has enough room to store a small handgun and a few other items on the carpeted floor. The construction of this Honeywell small safe is made of solid steel so you can expect durability from it.
The reason why I am referring to this safe as the simplest model is the fact that it doesn’t have the electronic lock or a combination lock. This safe comes with a simple lock and key locking system. If you want to unlock the safe, you should use one out of 2 keys that came with it. But, that is only the lock, everything else is far from simple. The door comes with 2 locking bolts and concealed hinges so you can be sure it stays shut when you need it.
Honeywell Home Safe 5005P
This is a special Honeywell steel safe because it comes in different colors including black, white, blue and pink. The reason why I have put it in the Honeywell home safes category is the color because blue and pink are a better choice for your home than for your office. Don’t get confused by the color, this small safe will keep your belongings secure, but the capacity is rather small – 0.17 cubic feet. The bottom of the safe is carpeted and you can store one or two handguns inside, depending on their type and size.
This Honeywell electronic safe comes with a digital lock that uses PIN code you can program the way you want it to be. The door is equipped with 2 locking bolts and concealed hinges so you can be sure that the safe is secured from pry attacks. A small safe like this one is easy to carry around and to prevent the thief to do that, the safe comes with pre-drilled mounting holes at the bottom.
Honeywell Electronic Safe 5101DOJ
This Honeywell gun safe is one of the smallest models in their offer which means that it can’t store many guns, maybe one or two, depending on their size and type. The safe comes with carpeted bottom to prevent scratches on the firearm which is great but I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t have one additional shelf. When you look at the size of the interior you can see that one additional shelf may cause too much crowd, which means that this might be a better solution.
This Honeywell small safe is made to store handguns which you can see by the fact that it is the DOJ approved firearms storage device. The lock on this Honeywell small steel security safe is electronic combination lock which means you have to use a PIN code to unlock it. Besides a good combination lock, this safe comes with 2 locking bolts and concealed hinges which mean it is a small but impressive gun safe. It requires 4 AA batteries to work and if the batteries end up empty at some point you can still open the safe with a backup lock and key system.
Honeywell Security Safe With Digital Lock 5103
The overall design of this Honeywell vault is the same as the model above, but this model is bigger. The capacity of this model is 0.83 and it comes with one additional shelf inside so you have extra storage space. The bottom of the safe is carpeted to prevent scratching, but the shelf isn’t. That is why I would recommend you to store more sensitive items on the bottom where there is carpet protection.
The Honeywell 5103 comes with a digital combination lock with a screen. That way you can see the status of the safe and easily enter the PIN code you need. This lock also comes with 2 steel locking bolts and concealed hinges which means that the safe can easily offer you a good security level. The only thing you have to worry about are the batteries in the lock and the PIN code.
Honeywell Security Safe With Digital Lock 5105DS
This low profile Honeywell steel safe is more like a horizontal handgun safe because it is low but wide. I will start this Honeywell 5105 safe review with the design and continue with characteristics. The safe is designed that way so you can store a 17” laptop inside, alongside other valuable belongings. The interior of the safe is simple, it comes with carpeted bottom and it doesn’t have any additional shelves because the safe is too low for them.
This Honeywell steel security safe comes with a simple digital lock with a small screen so you can check the status of the safe. The lock uses a special PIN code and the moment you lock it, two locking bolts are activated and the door is secured. Besides that, the safe comes with concealed hinges and recessed door to prevent pry attacks so you can be sure that your belongings are safe.
Honeywell Security Safe With Digital Lock 5107DS
This Honeywell combination safe is a large gun safe, but it is not a rifle safe. It comes with 2.81 cubic feet capacity so you can use it to store different belongings like laptop, documents, and handguns. This safe comes with carpeted bottom and one additional shelf which gives you extra storage space inside and that is a very important feature.
The lock on the safe is an electronic combination and it needs a PIN code to lock/unlock the safe. The lock comes with two locking bolts which are located in the middle of the door. I would prefer if they were spread through the entire door, but it shouldn’t be a dealbreaker for you. Besides that, the door comes with concealed hinges which prevents pry attacks.
Honeywell Security Safe 5113
This small Honeywell safety vault is similar to few models above so you can expect the same quality level. When you look the interior of the safe you will notice that it is simple; it comes with one additional shelf and one carpeted protection at the bottom of the safe. I would recommend you store handguns on the bottom and other items like money or documents on the top shelf because you won’t scratch them on the shelf.
The exterior of the safe is also very similar to other models, which means that this design works fine for them and their customers. The electronic lock on this Honeywell steel safe consists of a keypad and the screen so you can easily enter the right PIN code. The door is equipped with concealed hinges and locking bolts which means you can prevent pry attacks on the safe.
Honeywell Security Safe With Digital Lock 5205
This Honeywell steel safe is also a horizontal gun safe so you can store the laptop in the safe. It comes in two different sizes so you can adjust the safe to your needs, which is great. The safe has carpeted bottom to prevent scratching of your belongings (firearm, laptops, documents, medicine…)
You could say that this is a Honeywell combination safe because it comes with a special dial-lock that uses the Pin code to manage the safe. The horizontal safe has recessed doors and concealed hinges so you can be sure that no pry attack will open it. The locking bolts on the door are also a nice security feature.
Honeywell Security Safe With Digital Lock 5207
This is another Honeywell steel safe that is bigger in size, but it is not a rifle safe. The capacity of this safe is 2.7 cubic feet and it comes with one additional shelf so you can use that capacity up to its maximum. Just like other Honeywell gun safe models; this one comes with carpeted protection only at the bottom of the safe, so keep your firearms there.
Now, there is one difference with this safe and it is connected to the lock. This Honeywell digital safe comes with digital dial-lock which is different from a keypad lock, but it still requires a PIN code to enter the safe. You have to turn the button to enter the right code. Besides that, there aren’t many differences. The lock is equipped with two locking bolts and it has concealed hinges which makes the door pry-resistant.
Honeywell Fireproof & Waterproof Safe 2101
The next series I want to show you have special fire and water features so if you are looking for fire or waterproof safes, you can choose one from here. This small Honeywell combination safe is made of durable steel construction and it has 0.52 cubic feet of storage space. This safe doesn’t have carpeted protection or additional shelf so it is safe for one or two items, depending on their size and type.
This safe has an interesting mechanical lock that doesn’t require batteries which is great, but you have to use it in conjunction with the key. That speaks a lot about the security level of the safe. The fire protection of the safe lasts up to 1 hour at 1700°F and the seal on the door prevents water from entering the safe. The fact that this Honeywell fire and waterproof safe uses so complicated lock with other fire and water protections is very interesting.
Honeywell Fireproof & Waterproof Safe 2102
As you can expect from the code of the safe, this model is very similar to the model above. This model is bigger, it has 0.57 cubic feet capacity and it has a simple design inside and outside of the safe. The interior of the safe is naked which means it doesn’t have any carpeted or foam protection and it doesn’t have any additional shelf.
The lock on the safe works on the same principle as the model above. This Honeywell steel safe has a combination lock that doesn’t need batteries and the only way to open it is to use a key. It is a slightly complicated lock so I wouldn’t recommend this safe for people who are looking for a quick access safe. The fire and water protections are the same; the fire protection can endure about 1 hour at 1700°F and a special waterproof design prevents water from entering the safe at all times.
Honeywell Fireproof & Waterproof Safe 2103
The third version of this Honeywell water and fire resistant safe is the biggest. It has a 0.61 cubic feet capacity and it comes with one additional shelf. That shelf is at the top of the safe which means that you can use it to store narrow items like documents. Everything else you can store on the bottom (bigger) shelf.
This Honeywell small steel security safe comes with the same interesting mechanical lock that requires keys to open. The lock controls 2 locking bolts for better security. The fire rating is also 1-hour and the water-resistant door (and entire safe design) prevents water from entering. The safe also has small rubber legs for better stability and security.
Honeywell Steel Fire and Security Safe 2111
Another interesting Honeywell fireproof box is this 2111 model. This model is slightly different because it is actually Honeywell digital steel fire & security safe which means it has batteries in the lock. The safe is simple from the inside and outside which means it doesn’t have carpeted interior or additional shelves so you have to store everything in one level.
As I have already mentioned, this is Honeywell digital fireproof safe. The digital combination lock has a simple keypad and screen so you can check the status of the lock. The lock controls two locking bolts on the door. This safe doesn’t have concealed hinges, but a special design keeps the door closed at all times. This is a Honeywell digital fire safe that protects your valuables for 1 hour at 1700°F.
Honeywell Steel Fire and Security Safe 2112
Just like the series above this one, this model comes in different sizes and the 2112 model is the next version. This, the bigger model has 0.57 cubic feet capacity, but it also comes with a naked interior. Due to the size of the safe, people behind it managed to squeeze one shelf made for documents or money because it is very high. The rest of your belongings can be on the bottom of the safe.
The lock is the same as the model above, a digital combination lock with a small screen above the keypad. That digital combination lock requires 4 AA batteries to work so make sure you get them because they aren’t included in the pack. Besides a digital lock and two locking bolts, this safe comes with 1-hour fire protection and a special waterproof design so that water stays outside of the safe.
Honeywell Steel Fire and Security Safe 2113
Another similar model of this Honeywell digital fireproof safe is the 2113 model with 0.61 cubic feet of capacity. It is similar to the 2112 model because it comes with one additional shelf that can store papers or maybe a watch. Everything else you have to put on the main shelf (bottom of the safe without carpet protection).
This Honeywell fire and waterproof safe come with a fire protection that lasts about an hour at 1700°F. That temperature is pretty high which makes this feature impressive. Most other safes are having fire protection around 1200°-1500°. The combination lock is the same, meaning it has a simple keypad and a screen and you have to use it with a key to open the safe.
Honeywell Steel Fire and Security Safe 2116
The next two models are similar to the series above but they are significantly larger than other models. They still aren’t rifle safes, but they do have 3 times larger capacity. For example, the Honeywell fireproof box 2116 has 2.35 cubic feet capacity and it is separated into 3 sections. The interior consists of a locking drawer and 2 shelves, without any carpeted protection.
When you look at the lock you can see the resemblance to other models I have mentioned in the Honeywell safes reviews above because it is a digital lock with a keypad and a screen. This Honeywell digital fireproof safe has 1-hour of fire protection at 1700°F and it uses locking bolts to prevent force entering in the safe.
Honeywell Steel Fire and Security Safe 2118
The biggest model in this series is the 2118 model with 3.44 cubic feet capacity. The interior of this safe is similar to the 2116 model which means it consists of a locking drawer and two shelves. The main shelf is located right above the drawer and the second shelf is a small shelf used to store documents or other small items.
There aren’t many surprises with this safe. It comes with the same digital combination lock and locking bolts like other models. The same story is with the fire protection. Just like other models, this one comes with 1-hour fire protection at 1700°. This is another water resistant safe which means it has a special design that prevents water from entering the safe.
Honeywell Executive Safe 3018DG
Now I want to share with you a couple of the most popular rifle safes. This rifle safe is interesting because it comes in 3 sizes; 8.85 cubic feet, 9.93 cubic feet and 23.3 cubic feet and they can store 14,18 or 24 guns inside. I will focus on the medium-sized model (9.93 cubic feet) so you can see what you can expect from it. There are some changes in the design in small and large models so be sure you have picked the right one for you.
This Honeywell steel fire and security safe has a fully carpeted interior which has rifle racks and one top shelf. The safe is also equipped with built-in temperature and humidity gauges so you can control the environment in the safe. This heavy duty gun safe comes with 30 minutes of fire protection at 1400°F and it comes with a 7-year limited warranty.
Honeywell Executive Safe 30511
This rifle safe is much simpler than the model above and it has few differences in the overall design. For example, this safe is made for 8 long guns and when you look inside the safe you will notice that it doesn’t have carpeted interior. The interior consists of rifle rack and locked top shelf you can use to store handguns or ammo.
The safe may look simple, but it is a good quality piece. It comes with a digital combination lock without the screen but the keypad is so simple you don’t need a screen. The door has 4 live locking bolts and they are equipped with concealed hinges so you can’t force your way in this unit. Unfortunately, this is not a Honeywell fireproof waterproof safe so you can’t expect a fire or water protection from it.
